Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
4.0
What a fabulous and deliciously fantastic world that Adeyemi created for her premiere novel! It was so refreshing to read a fantasy novel taking influences from African culture, and not just being a Western Medieval/Renaissance influenced fantasy novel that we usually see. The world was so well done, the lore and history of the world was fascinating, and I was so indulged with the characters stories!
My rating is more of a 4.5 rather than a 4. The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 was because I got really upset with some of the decisions characters made (but hey, it wouldn't be a YA novel if the characters didn't make bad decisions!
