Girly Drinks: A World History of Women and Alcohol by Mallory O'Meara

informative medium-paced
A fine general overview of the topic but disappointed by the author's chronological snobbery and perpetuation of bad history in the chapters about ancient and medieval women (several paragraphs in the Hildegard von Bingen section made me need to put the book down and take a walk). Chapters significantly improve as the chapter subjects become more modern. Attention to and centering of LGBTQ+ narratives where possible by the author also a welcome throughline.
