I was called Dumplin' as a child and one of my parents died a few months ago. I could relate to many of the subjects dealt with in this novel. Willowdean felt like another version of myself that went to all the places I didn't and dealt with her grief in a real way. I like the way body image and loss- and new love- were dealt with sensitivity. There was one thing I was not satisfied with and it was the ending as it relates to Will's decision about Bo but... it's a series and I have started the next book already! Reading Dumplin' is a feel good comfort read. I laughed out at some points in the story because Will is so funny. I like Bo. I also like Mitch but I could feel the disconnect in all the right places.
Like I said... I have started Puddin' and I am soooo ready for it!
