Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro

3.0

I thought this was going to be a considerably more cynical story than it turned out to be, and I’m not sure what to make of its conclusion. Japanese authors love to give you just a smidge of broader context and let you figure out the rest for yourself, and I generally find that refreshing, but in this case I felt that if certain elements were explored and enriched further, Ishiguro could have crafted a genuinely profound narrative.
