This book made me so frustrated. Saraya is utterly useless, despite having the strongest magic evarrr and being an amaaazing physical fighter. /sarcasm

I realized that I didn't notice in the first book (because the action at the end was fun), but Saraya spends a ridiculous amount of time in both books being captured and powerless. In the first book, she had many short periods of captivity, in between showing off her magic and fighting prowess.

In this book, Saraya and Drake are helpless prisoners going along with whatever Havrok wants for 63% of the story.

Saraya never tries to plot an escape; she just figures Drake will come up with something. When they're finally freed, it's only because THEIR CAPTORS CHOOSE TO REMOVE SARAYA'S AND DRAKE'S RESTRAINTS. What?!!!

I DNFed at 66%; I only stuck around this far because I was morbidly curious about how long the author expected me to want to read about Saraya doing nothing to free herself. This is such a waste of what could have been a cool world and main character.
