Becoming by Michelle Obama

4.0

4.25 ⭐️ Very good autobiography! I think these books tend to be quite slow and I did have difficulty staying engaged at times. That being said, she has a very interesting and unique perspective that is absolutely worth reading.

Unfortunately, finishing this book in mid-2024 made me upset because it made me miss when both presidential candidates were kind, educated, and overall sound people. Reading about how hard the Obamas worked and how passionate they were for a better country made me SO frustrated with how easy it was for You Know Who to come in and have no respect for the systems in place or what they did to help young people, minorities, low income, etc. This book did emphasize the corruption in Washington that has only been made worse since their terms ended. They made a huge sacrifice with their 8 years in office and it feels like a slap on the face after 2016.

Michelle was very kind and honest in her book. I listened to the second half on audiobook which I would recommend as she was the narrator. I hope we get this legitimate passion for a better country in every candidate moving forward.
