Dreams of a Wild Heart by Danube Adele

4.0

Dreams of a Wild Heart by Danube Adele is a 2014 Carina Press publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This the 3rd in the Dreamwalkers series but it can read as a stand alone.

Cecilia or CeCi for short, had her life all mapped out. She knew who the right guy was and that they would marry and have children. But, her boyfriend and presumed fiance, Carlos was shot to death, leaving Ceci so stunned and hurt she has never let Carlos go and so he visits her in her dreams trying to convince her it's time to move on with her life and in so doing allows him to do the same.

It would seem that fate intervened and the unbelievable circumstances CeCi finds herself in will no doubt force her to leave her old hopes and dreams in the past and forge a new future for herself. But, CeCi doesn't go quietly. For one thing she was kidnapped, for another she isn't even on her home planet anymore and to make things that much more interesting, the Viking responsible for her being in this predicament has brought her here to find a mate... but not him.

Tabron's homeland is riddled with disease and famine. A doctor, like CeCi would certainly be a plus, not to mention her ability to have children. But, when push comes to shove, CeCi refuses to chose anyone for a mate but Tabron, who in turn refuses to be her her choice. So, the two come to an impasse.

In the meantime, CeCi makes friends and enemies, uses her skill as a doctor to instruct the inhabitants on proper nutrition and health practices and treats many maladies. It's not too awful long before Tabron begins to lose the battle of wills and succumbs to CeCi's wishes. But, there are many wars to fight yet and as Tabron and CeCi forge an ever stronger bond the situation around them becomes more and more fraught with danger, putting them both in the line of fire. Will they survive? Will CeCi have her long overdue HEA?

This book is primarily listed in the paranormal romance genre and technically it does fit in that category, but it would fit much better in the science fiction/ fantasy genre. I don't usually read SF/ fantasy all that often, but this was one was pretty good. This author has a very vivid imagination, and of course Alpha Vikings don't hurt either. I loved CeCi's character and her natural personality will serve her well when she is challenged in ways she couldn't have possibly prepared for. Tabron is a good guy with a sad background that made me want to hold him. But, he also has that super hot alpha quality as well. There is intrigue, action, adventure and a steamy, sensual love story and was pretty entertaining.
I believe this story will continue with more adventures for CeCi and Tabron.... so stay tuned. Overall this one is 4 stars.
