Started out promising but then the story went in a different direction than I was expecting. I liked the tension at the beginning. But they turned to lovers a lot faster than I wanted. Also the MMC calls her “baby girl” 🤢 the worst was that it was even used during the proposal at the end.
My library audiobook had some chapters repeated and out of order so the middle was a little convoluted and I think I missed the chapter where they finally declared they were in a relationship. But it didn’t impact the story too much. It got a little boring in the second half as well. But I’m still going to check out the next book.
I also didn’t like the flashback chapters. I didn’t feel like they added that much, and for the audio they just made things confusing. I enjoyed the author and this might be my first CJ Bloom? I enjoyed her performance.
