Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
4.0

Update: time to admit that this book was not great or at least did not live up to what I spent 2 years waiting for. With Harrow I could cope with the puzzle (and I kind of enjoyed it along the way) but I genuinely don’t believe this provided the tools to even vaguely understand what was happening throughout and every scene with Nona in (most scenes) just felt childish rather than fun.

I love this series so much and I really hope Alecto has a clear pay off (is Muir just writing in this way to be artsy? Ideally it would be to benefit the plot…)

I miss Gideon!! I miss Harrow and everyone from book 1 - so disappointing for Gideon’s ‘return’ to not even be properly explained. Nona needed less Nona and a bit more of everything else.

Things I don’t understand:
- is Pyrrha evil?
- are the (OG) lyctors OG john’s friends?
- what’s ianthe’s deal? Is she now naberius or does she just have a haircut??
- are team Dyas and Deuteros with Blood of Eden or against them?
- what’s happened to the river?
- and most importantly, who is Alecto????
