“Life isn't easy, no matter where you are. You'll make choices you think are right, and then suffer for them.”

I loved this book. It was essentially what Throne of Glass should have been, and should probably have been published prior to it. Celaena truly acts like an assassin in these short stories bound into a book, especially as Maas explores her trust issues with Sam. I could never understand why Celaena fell for Chaol and Dorian with complete abandon, and why she seemed to trust them so easily, when it went completely against her nature, and this book shows that ToG was basically a fluke in the series as Maas writing has grown significantly since then.
