Becoming by Michelle Obama

4.0

4.5 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Michelle took us from her beginning of life until after leaving the White House. My favorite part had to be meeting her husband and being beside him (as best she could or was allowed to be) during his many stages of political life. Reading about her side let us see her emotions behind all of the things we witnessed through news outlets and social media. I barely knew anything about politics and still don't but I do know that it's rough and nothing I would ever want to be married into. Also I love wordy books as long as it's actually saying something. I was able to picture everything she wrote about. I cried when she lost a loved one. I was so happy for when she got pregnant. I was perturbed when Barack went to write his book. I held my breath as they awaited the results of the presidency, even though I knew the outcome. The writing was just that good in my opinion. Only reason it's a 4.5 and not 5 is because I thought there was too much presidential talk if that makes sense. I found myself feeling like maybe Barack did not want to write another book so she decided to defend a lot of topics surrounding their time there. Maybe not, but maybe she just wanted to defend her husband's character and not the president he was? Either way, I loved it and glad I bought it and I will keep it forever
