The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

5.0

I gave this book a complete 5 stars.

I didn't know I could have so many emotions. I felt anger, frustration, helplessness, hopelessness, happiness, sadness, and everything in between. This book was not only relatable it was also heart wrenching in a way. Although we come from two different worlds, the main character Starr experienced, thought of, and felt so many things that I can mirror in my own life. And sadly most of these things I'm talking about would not be felt by everyone. It would Possibly only be felt by minorities.

But given that a lot of people won't feel these things or have these experiences I want to truly truly recommend reading this book, no matter who you are what color you are or where you are from. I recommend while you read To truly truly put yourself in another person's shoes. Because this story is fictional but is so real in so many ways. This story is more real now than ever.

This story makes you ask questions, makes your think what is right what is wrong and just how much the truth can be misconstrued. It also pokes at the media and just how much they paint their pictures.

I loved this book and it will stick with me for a long time. Thought provoking and emotional.
