My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories by Stephanie Perkins

2.0

As often described by others who have read this book, My True Love Game to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories is a mix of good and .... meh short stories that are set in the Holidays season. I had high hopes in this book, especially since I saw the list of promising authors who contributed to this book. However, only a few (less than half) of the stories hit the mark for me.

I'll do a quick review on some of the stories in the next part....

When I read the first story, Midnights by Rainbow Rowell , I thought that they were off to a great start. The story was simple and cliche, but it was delivered in such way that made my heart flutter. However, the story that followed next, The Lady and the Fox , did not make sense at all to me. It started good but then it didn't make sense.

I tried to give this another try and the next story, Angels in the Snow didn't sit well with me. Polaris is Where You'll Find Me , kinda pulled me back into the book (gosh I wish it was longer) and It's a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown was cute too. But the next stories were so-so to me that they caused me to struggle in finishing the rest of the book.

TL;DR: If you want to get in the mood for the holidays or if you're a bit of a romantic, I'd suggest that you find a different book or just watch Love Actually , Sunday's at Tiffany's or something else. :)
