A Scrum Book: The Spirit of the Game by James O. Coplien, Jeff Sutherland

5.0

Everyone who has ever been part of an organization doing Scrum incorrectly has complained about how terrible Scrum is and how unreliable it is.

This book breaks down the concepts of a Scrum team into easily digestible patterns. Encouraging readers to apply a single pattern at a time and to start with The Spirit of the Game the book walks through multiple pattern languages that might be a good fit for your organization depending on how they are planning to apply Scrum.

Not only is the book incredibly easily to digest and understand the core applications of Scrum, but it has easily become my most referenced book in my work as a Software Engineer. If you are new to Scrum this is an easy to follow guide on how you could implement Scrum at an organization. If you are a practiced Scrum participant then you will likely find a few patterns in here that could take your team to the next level. This has changed the way that I think about apply Scrum principles and I can't wait to write a pattern language of my own.
