Right up until the end I was convinced this was the best romance I’d ever read - and then the end came and it pissed me off BAD
But the prose, oh the prose was so beautiful, and I actually laughed out loud several times reading this which is rare for a classic
Very different from Rebecca, but just as worth a read from Daphne Du Maurier
Side Note:
A lot of scenes remind me of the dead wife laughing / naked montages in film but like if those were for a man
