A very compulsive read, I literally could not put it down. So tense all the way through apart from a small handful of reprieves e.g. when they find the bunker.
Lots of emotional complexity and some beautiful lines of prose despite it being quite sparsely written. McCarthy implies so much with only few words and never spoon feeds the reader. Repeatedly destroyed and then restored my faith in humanity. So bleakyet still managed to end on a slightly hopeful note.
