And to think, I almost gave up after Heir of Fire. Book 3 was good, but not as great as the others. The library didn't have the audiobooks for the rest of the series after that, so I couldn't see myself continuing after that.
Fast forward a year: I gave in and bought the rest on Audible, and I'm glad I did.
This book was SOOOO good. From page one on, I was hooked. Action-packed and full of twists and turns. Great characters and a blossoming love story. An incredibly complex world that is well-developed and can be imagined in vivid detail. I can't say enough about how much I loved this one.
Aelin was as wild and chaotic as always, and it was so great to be back on an adventure with her, Chaol, Dorian, Rowan, and the rest of our beloved Throne of Glass gang.
A word on Manon. I hated her as a character in Heir of Fire (part of what lessened my enjoyment of that book, I think). She seemed so pointless. This book is where she truly begins to shine. And how her clan ties in with the rest of the lore of this world was so interesting to learn about.
Needless to say, I will be continuing my Throne of Glass adventure with Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn (I'll be doing the tandem read, as I've heard that's the best way to experience these for the first time). I am ready to get my heart absolutely ripped to shreds 🫠
