The Trackers
by Charles Frazier
3.5/5 — I had high hopes for this book. I loved the setting, characters, and storyline, but the writing was somewhat lacking in emotion. His descriptions of places, people, even scenes like the curious little girl learning independence on the mural scaffolding, were beautiful. But scenes that should have felt suspenseful, nostalgic, or heartbreaking, didn’t. The prose didn’t match the intensity of the story. I’m very glad I read it — I love a good period piece/romance/mystery — but felt a little let down by it.
