This successfully grabbed my attention when I had to figure out what to read after Fourth Wing/Iron Flame, and I'm very grateful because I was worried I was going to have a very long-term book hangover (for romantasy books, at least). Anyway, I adored this, and it had so many story aspects I loved (I will usually be on board for fantasy competition books, so this was perfect). My only complaint is that I wish we had seen some additional POVs to get more information about things, but I also understand why it wasn't done that way, so it's not a huge issue. I can't wait to read the other books in the series!
