read this for english as well, i enjoy story’s told one poem fo because they’re so accessible and u can get through them in a day if u read it consistently, but i think this book is an essential must read in understanding some of the black experience. through means of systemic racism black people have been put in the economic positions as described in the book and many young black boys are put in the position the main character is in due to that, i think it’s important this is acknowledged as it offers humanity to the violence that comes out of it instead of just seeing it as another number on a blown up statistic of violence. i do, however, think it’s important to highlight this is not the ONLY black experience but it is but one facet of it. super good read and very reflective of the culture that’s been built, ending wasnt my favorite however but i do recommend.
