The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes

This is about woman starting with a mobile library in Kentucky during the reign of president Roosevelt. They use horses and donkeys for the transport. The writing is beautiful, which is why I didn't mind the slow pace of the story. Alice is very likeable. I felt sorry for her. I can understand why she wanted to join the library despite protests of her family. All in all I thought it was a nice story, but it was not as good as the other books I read by this author.
