Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake

4.0

Delilah green cares a lot, it's just too bad nobody ever bothered to care about her.

This was a pretty well-executed romance, Delilah was a great MC and Claire was a sweetheart of a love interest. I do love a single-mother plot and the classic beauty and the tatted badass babe was a great combo.

Poor Delilah lost both her parents before the age of ten and was then stuck with a wicked stepmother and sister. With Astrid, it was obvious that it would turn out she was never a wicked stepsister, but I still struggled to sympathise with her. Her mother was clearly a nightmare to her but despite Astrid, Claire and Iris all acknowledging that Astrid is an emotionally stunted cold-hearted bitch they somehow still managed to push everything on Delilah being weird and anti-social.

Imogen, on the other hand, is just as a monster - sure she looked after Delilah physically but she never bothered to be a mother to the orphan she adopted and yet still had the audacity to talk shit about how Delilah behaved. Like....maybe Delilah is such a wild loose cannon bc idk she had no parents around to raise her..... It was a crying shame we didn't get a full altercation scene between Delilah and/or Astrid and Imogen.

I'm hoping the next book will smooth out some of my feelings for Astrid and see Imogen get her ass handed to her.

Definitely interested to see what happens in Astrid and Iris's books.
