The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

5.0

Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why--or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into a sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man's touch--and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes.
Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.

My Rating: 5/5 stars!
This book was the first book chosen for my book club, and I heard so many good things about it before reading it, so I had high expectations. Nevertheless, these expectations were not only met, but exceeded!
I really loved this book, and thought the premise was so intriguing as well. I was instantly pulled into the intricate plot, and was so captivated over what might happen next.
This book also has some mystery aspects to it, which kept me even more involved and was a nice addition to keeping the suspense.
I definitely did not expect the ending, and I'm so excited for how the author set up the next book in the epilogue.
I recommend this book to everyone, even nonreaders, just because it's easy to stay focused on and very 'reader-friendly' if that makes sense.
