Breathless by Amy McCulloch

I have never read something that was so specific to my interests before. This was literally made for me. I am obsessed with mountaineering. Not doing it, of course, but reading about it and watching documentaries about it. I love anything I can get my hands on about Everest, K2, etc. I know all 14 of the 8,000 meter peaks.

I also love thrillers and murder mysteries. Full stop.

So a thriller taking place during a mountain climb of an 8,000 meter peak??? I've never clicked my selection button so fast on Book of the Month. I really really liked this, and I can tell it was written by someone who has climbed (the author scaled the mountain used in the book!). I can't imagine this being for everyone, but I absolutely loved it and I can't believe someone combined my interests like this. The mystery itself was very engaging and there's definitely enough red herrings that you're guessing who the killer is until the end. I guessed right at first, but then changed my guess later on. Right the first time!

I recommend this for people who love mountaineering and survival stories as well as thrillers.
