The Nowhere Child by Christian White
4.0
This was an interesting take on a child abduction story. It started with a woman who never had any reason to think her parents weren't who they said they were; then she suddenly is faced with that prospect when a man from the Kentucky comes to work in Melbourne, Australia saying he thinks he is her brother. The storyline shifts between present day as she travels to the US to unearth the truth and the past about the abduction. The shifts in storyline were well-done, and I found the story compelling. There is a mystery to be solved, and subjects you don't find often in books such as a snake-handling church. White presented the difficulty of how to look for the truth while trying not to upset the apple cart with the current family and made me think how difficult that would be. The book really picked up steam toward the end of the book as all the pieces fell into place. This book was a well-written debut.
