Leaving Everything Most Loved by Jacqueline Winspear
3.0

Maisie has two murdered Indian women’s’ deaths to solve, and a missing boy’s as well. Billy isn’t well enough to help, so she enlists Sandra to assist.

The police are also involved, and as Maisie talks to people who knew Osha, she gets a picture of a strong, intelligent, independent woman who was saving money to build a school back home.

She finds out that the home she was staying at is run by people taking advantage of Indian women by using their wages to run their own home. They work with a pastor, who’s also suspicious because Maisie catches him in a lie.

The cases overlap when the missing boy’s name is an alias, and he may know Osha, as do his parents. The layers unravel, and Maisie is intrigued by the healing methods of the East when she finds out Osha was seen as a healer of sorts.

She’s determined to go on Maurice’s journey to see more of the world, so her and James’ paths diverge as he’s going to Canada for work. Her Dad marries Mrs. Bromley, Billy and Sandra find new jobs, and Maisie wraps up all her files and business.

A pivotal part in this series, this book seems like an ending, but is surely a new twist in the road of Maisie’s life. Can’t wait for the next book.
