Runaways, Vol. 1: Find Your Way Home by Rainbow Rowell

4.0

So nice to see the Runaways again, back together in all their chaotic glory.

The style of this (thanks to Kris Anka) was fantastic and numerous panels made me smile or laugh just based on facial expressions alone. On the other side of the same coin, the expressions also made the intense, emotional scenes really hit home. I really appreciated the amount of care and detail that was put into each character. Also I just adore Nico’s sick haircut.

”I was trying to give you back to him, you know? That guy that you miss.”

The writing of this (thanks to Rainbow Rowell) was fun and upbeat and quick to get interesting! The banter between our faves was wholesome and yet the entire plot was still tension inducing and well done. The use of dramatic irony where we as the readers knew something was up made the latter half of this volume so nerve wracking. It provided a really good glimpse into what all the Runaways would be like if thrust two years ahead of Gerty’s death. They are both similar to who they were, and changed by the things they’ve experienced.

This was really fun! I’m looking forward to picking up the rest of these. ✨
