How to Be an Epicurean: The Ancient Art of Living Well by Catherine Wilson

4.0

This book is well and accessibly written, and provides a solid case for Epicureanism as a foundational philosophy not just for life but for society as a whole. It is easy to see in this book why such a philosophy might benefit us all if more broadly adopted, but I also couldn't help but disagree with some of the tenets of it. As other reviewers have said, Epicureanism has many appealing features, but perhaps an Epicurean life is best lived when tempered with some elements of Stoicism. I'm looking forward to reading more deeply on these philosophical traditions!
