Quick read while in a museum.
I wanted to read it because the animated film marked my childhood. I had forgotten most of it, however, and it was really nice to have it all come back reading the book.
It does deal with several deep and interesting themes for a children's book, mainly animal captivity and immigration. It's done simply but deeply and beautifully.
I need to rewatch the animated film some day.
