I absolutely love a good dual audiobook narration, and Vanessa Edwin and Christian Fox truly excelled in this one. The tension and chemistry between them practically leapt off the pages. It’s impressive how their friendship lasted so long without anything happening, but it just goes to show that some of the best relationships start as friendships. This was my first experience with Jennifer Sucevic's work, and I was completely captivated from start to finish. The slow burn was not only enjoyable but also incredibly engaging. I wasn’t at all ready for it to end!

I don’t typically endorse cheating in stories, but when Lilah catches her boyfriend in the act, I couldn’t be happier for her to be free from that man. With nowhere else to turn, Lilah moves in with her best friend, Steele, and suddenly, she starts seeing him in a completely new light. There’s always been a spark between them, but she’s been too afraid to pursue itβ€”worried that she might lose her best friend. That all changes when Steele presents her with an intriguing arrangement that she can’t refuse.

Steele is a professional hockey player who has been in love with his best friend since their college days. Timing has always been a challenge, but he’s waited patiently, and he knows that good things are worth the wait. When Lilah finds herself with nowhere to go, he steps up and offers her a place to stay in his home. The way he cares for her is incredibleβ€”he knows her coffee order by heart and brings it to her in bed. It’s impossible not to fall head over heels for him. He embodies what it means to be a true golden retriever. Now that he finally has his chance, he’s determined to show her that he’s the one, even if it means breaking her for any other man. πŸ₯΅

I'm looking forward to reading more of Jennifer Sucevic's books. This book struck the perfect balance of plot and spice. I would rate the audiobook a solid 5-stars and the overall read a strong 4-stars.
