I absolutely loved this book!
This book does not just focuses on Kendra (though we do get to know a bit of her history as well) but also on Emma who finds out that she will get a stepsister. Obviously this is a Cinderella retelling but a lot of the roles are changed and switched around and in the end it isn't easy to say who is the bad and who is the good one. I loved that! Even though this is a retelling this made it filled with surprises. The stories in between from Kendra are also an absolute joy. They tackle 3 different fairy tales: Hansel and Gretel, the princess and the pea and finally the little mermaid. They stick close to the original (not the Disney original but the original original) story but also have a fun and original element (Kendra and her magic).
The only thing that I found a bit confusing is that the little mermaid Doria is referring to a boy who later turns out to be the man that she loves. I found that to be a bit confusing because when I hear boy I do not think of a 19 year old... But that is really the only bad thing that I can name about this book!
