Not Now, Not Ever: Ten years on from the misogyny speech by Julia Gillard

4.0

Julia Gillard was Australia's first and to this date, only, female prime minister and before that, Australia's first female deputy prime minister.
Gillard received so much abuse and undermining from the media, the opposing party and even her own political party, forcing her out of office and thus, she retired from politics fully.
She received so much sexism and hate that it disgusts me.
Gillard on October 9th 2012, delivered a speech on sexism and misogyny during parliament, now coined as "The misogyny speech,"

This book talks about progress 10 years on and how the speech came to be and where people were at the time of listening.

This was such an interesting book and was inspirational and talked about sexism in so many different ways.
Misogyny can occur in all types of ways and it's important we recognise this.
