Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

4.0

First half of this book, I absolutely adored. The cat and mouse was done to perfection, and the haunted mansion was an eerie side plot that I couldn't wait to explore further.
Unfortunately, the ghosts seemed to take a back seat, and a bunch of coincidences happened.
Adeline's grandma just so happened to grow up with the guy who made her aware to the Society. His dad just so happened to be responsible for her great grandma's murder.

Then, if Zade found out that Adeline was already well known to The Society, why did they only take an interest when he was around? If she was due to be sold to the skin trade, wny did they not take her as a child, since they apparently love children?

All in all, a good book, and I've recommended to a few people but there were just some plot holes and inconsistencies that annoyed me. For example, zade moved to the city 6 months ago to pursue a new lead, but yet went to the haunted fair every year?
