The Endgame
by Riley Hart
So Riley Hart is a big author in the m/m Kindle Unlimited world, and when I started reading KU books in 2020/2021, I read quite a few of her books. There were a few I enjoyed, but a lot of them ended up really disappointing me and being 3 star reads, and I just decided not to read any of her work anymore because why keep being disappointed over and over again when there's 1000s of other books out there?
But, this book was available for free during a stuff your kindle event, so I grabbed it in the hopes of giving Riley Hart's books a second chance. And I'll be honest, the beginning of this book was a little hit-or-miss for me. I found the writing a little over-written, with repetitive thoughts from the characters, and paragraphs a little too long. But as the story progressed I got really into it, and there were a lot of parts that made my heart feel all angsty or fluttery, which is the feeling I am always searching for in romance books.
Both characters' loneliness and need for love really got to me, and I really loved that part of the story. So I really loved this one (although, I will admit there were a bit too many sex scnes that were kind of repetitive for me), and I will definitely be reading the second book in the series.
