hotdogmother 's review for:
The Last Chance Library
by Freya Sampson
This isn't bad, but I'm dropping it at 46% because it's lacking a compelling main character. Every other character? Great, fun, interesting. The MC? At the halfway point, she has no spine, no soul, no motivation and no desire to change anything at all in her life.
I love how everyone comes together to save the library, and feel like this would make a great romantic comedy, in the vein of The Holiday. Feels vaguely similar to the Jack Black and Kate Winslet story to me, minus the humorous bits needed.
TW: Loss of a parent (mentioned frequently), potential loss of job.
