Glossy: Ambition, Beauty, and the Inside Story of Emily Weiss's Glossier by Marisa Meltzer

informative medium-paced

3.0

I feel like this book was confused about whether it was about Glossier as a brand or about its founder Emily Weiss. While certain brand landmarks are discussed, Emily’s personal and professional life also takes a front seat. But neither topic really feels groundbreaking or insightful, it feels more like a summary and less like any kind of deep analysis.
This book did, however, encapsulate the vibes of the internet and young women in America in the mid to late 2010s. I enjoyed it purely for the nostalgia of scrolling through instagram spreads and ordering from glossier’s limited beauty options at the time.
