I bought this book so I could read it before watching the movie. The book was emotional and the ending had me crying. The characters are well developed and unique. The book was very sexual, definitely more than I was expecting it to be and some parts of it made me uncomfortable. I know that it takes place in the 80's in Italy and the age difference wasn't as big of a deal then, but I still wasn't super comfortable with it. However that age difference did directly affect the plot and the theme of the novel, so I see why the author did it. Despite being uncomfortable for parts of it, I did really enjoy reading it and although the ending can't be classified as happy, I would say that it was satisfying.
