I enjoyed the saga. I enjoyed the kindness shown to Paks in the beginning and I understand why the author chose to have Paks suffer the trials she did in this book. But that said a word of warning: Most of Chapter 27 (in the audio version from about 17 minutes to the end into this hour long chapter) is a litany of abuse and violence and degradation that will be difficult for many readers. Although Paks has epiphanies during this in my opinion it simply wasn’t worth reading the horrors to see them.
Graphic: Body horror, Confinement, Emotional abuse, Gore, Physical abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Torture, Violence, Blood, Cannibalism, Murder, War, Injury/Injury detail
