Waiting for Darkness Book I by Tony Reyes

5.0

Synopsis:

Cruz Espinoza is a phenomenal surgeon who, in a turn of events, has life as he knows it taken away from him. Cruz is pulled into the life of a Darkling, although he has no idea what that actually means. Cruz looks for answers to what he is, how he was changed, who is to blame, and why they chose him. Along his journey of self-discovery, he encounters many obstacles, challenges, and dangerous situations. His anger caused by the pain he has experienced both physically and emotionally drives his supernatural strength. Vengeance is his power.
Will Cruz find the answers he seeks? Will he get the redemption he deserves?

My Review:

I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline and the writing of this novel. Not only did Tony Reyes make the story descriptive enough to feel like "you are watching a movie or seeing this happen in first person," but it is also very apparent that he did plenty of research on numerous subjects, which pulled this story together nicely.
The chapters within the story do switch the timeline back and forth from time to time. However, it is nicely done, and easy to understand how the different periods and situations add to and play into the story.
Waiting For Darkness is filled with many twists and various storylines that encouraged me to read well past bedtime just to see what would happen next. Cruz is on a lonesome journey, yet you feel as if you are beside him, in his corner, cheering him on by reading the story.
I highly recommend Waiting For Darkness to anyone who enjoys paranormal, vampire-style stories. I can not wait to read Part II, Redemption: Waiting For Darkness, to see how the story plays out.
