Daughter of Black Lake by Cathy Marie Buchanan: 3/5

pretty writing, slow plot. set in like 1 AD with conflict between tribesmen and the advancement of the romans. reflections back with Mother Earth and the natural world. the characters all felt a little one layered to me, and i kinda hated that devout’s character was basically made to be a mother/mate. it did draw interesting parallels with having both devout and hobble’s povs. overall, i think it just progressed too slowly for me to stay engrossed with the story.
