The Year We Disappeared: A Father-Daughter Memoir by John Busby, Cylin Busby

3.0

This is a true story of a police officer who was targeted by a local thug, shot in the head, and it changed the family's life forever. The story is written by the daughter and father (police officer). The story itself was intriguing, however the writing felt a bit shallow. Then I realized that I was reading a young adult novel! Ha ha! The chapters by the daughter are written more skillfully than the chapters written by the father, but of course, he's not an author by trade so I don't think it is a fair criticism. All in all, interesting and quick read.
