I did not expect to love this book so much. Reading other reviews, I expected to give this book a 3 to 4 star rating, but I ended up loving it so much more and giving it a 5 star rating! I’ll be going through a bit of my thoughts on the book and who I would recommend this too.

This isn’t a cliche romance book, just to clear it up. Sure, the first half the book sort of was. It was still cute and heartwarming though. But it gets a whole lot more interesting around the half way (or 2 thirds, not sure) mark. I’m not going to spoil it, but if you are reading this currently and not enjoying it and have just started it, don’t DNF it yet. Wait until the storyline changes and you’ll mostly likely like it a lot more.

Marley is such a sweetheart. I loved her, although it’s hard to say how and why I loved her without spoiling it. You’ll probably get why I like her so much if you read the book. Kyle seemed nice. Kimberly was okay, although I obviously always imagined her looking like Kim Kardashian (If you didn’t know, Kim Kardashian’s real name isn’t Kim but in fact Kimberly) instead of having blond hair and blue eyes. Sam was the only character in the book I’ll most likely forgot in the next few weeks. Otherwise, everyone else I enjoyed reading about and connected to, especially Marley.

Some moments were so well explained and felt like you were actually there. I liked the part where Kyle and Marley go to the Christmas fair, and also when Marley was giving affection to the duck like it was a normal domestic pet. If I saw someone doing that, I would be so curious but also like ‘THAT’S SO CUTE’ because I really like ducks! The second half of the book I wasn’t really taking in the writing as much, mainly because the plot was too interesting trying to focus on how the authors wrote out descriptions about things (I found this as a good thing because it meant the book was super entertaining but this might be a bad case for you…).

In theory, I extremely enjoyed this book. I have a small complaint, but it would spoil the book. If you’ve read the book, you might have an idea what my complaint is as I think most people would also have this issue with the book. But it’s minuscule so it no where near rules out the good sides of this book. I mostly recommend this to YA romance readers. I never was that interested in the romance genre and tended to stick more to just contemporary with a sprinkle of romance, but reading this I wouldn’t mind checking out books with the main focus as romance. If you’re also interested in books with things such as mental health, and losing a loved one then you might also want to try out this book.

Like Five Feet Apart, this book will become a movie next year. I’m so super excited, since I want to know what the characters look like without painting a picture in my head and seeing how well they adapt everything from the book! If you’re unsure about reading this, then I would suggest waiting for the movie to come out. Otherwise, I wish you well and hope that you will like this book as much as I did when you do read this book! :)
