Fish people.
I should just leave that as my review. But I can’t, because that’s not a good journal entry then.
I had to keep turning this book over when I was done reading it because the cover kept freaking me out. Ever since I was young I would turn over magazines and books with faces on them…I felt like the eyes were watching me.
This was a dense read for a manga. This told a whole story instead of one of Lovecrafts shorts. The drawings were haunting, sometimes a bit too dark to really distinguish unless you had really good bed side lighting.
I’m always down a creepy, isolated town where outsiders don’t venture into sort of story. And it also deals with deep sea horror?! It was a fun read for sure, though the part where you had to decipher what the village drunkard was saying was almost impossible to decipher. And I feel like that was such a critical part to the legend behind the rise and fall of the city.
Looking forward to reading more of his work, might need something a little “lighter” to chew on.
