This book was so good! First, I loved how this book was in dual POV. I liked that we got to read what both Rylee and Colton were going through and what they had to overcome. When we left off in September Doves, Rylee and her sister had leave Eden and go hide out with the Vipers, a group led by their father who does some shady things, opposite of what the Jackals stand for. Rylee faces uncertainty with Colton, who was out doing what he deemed was best for the group, leaving Rylee to wonder where they stand. Over the next few months, Rylee grew angry. She knew nothing about Colton’s motives and why he was doing what he was doing and finally decided, enough is enough. All this time, Colton was being asked to do things he didn’t want to do and being blackmailed by someone who used to be trustworthy. He thought he was doing what he needed to do to protect the Jackals, all the while making himself feel like absolute garbage. When everyone reunited, Colton had burned some bridges and needed to repair them, especially with Rylee. He had only seen her once in the last year and it broke him to lie to her and his brothers. When Rylee saw Colton after all that time she was still as angry as ever, but wanted to put aside the past and do what was best for the group and that was to take down the evil man and his company who hurt the town long ago. As the Jackals get closer and closer to redemption, Rylee finds out what Colton has been up to, and they start to mend their relationship. After all was said and done, Colton knew from day one that Rylee was his person and that he would protect her at all costs, even if that meant him getting caught in the crossfire. These two had an unbelievable connection and she loved to push his buttons and give him sass, but he took it all in stride and loved that she could be herself around him. Like I said before, the found family vibe is one of the best things about this duet. The length these men and women go to protect the ones they love is amazing! Summer Sparrow was quite a long book, but it never felt like it dragged. There was always action, so it was easy to keep reading and not get bored!
