Blood Trade by Faith Hunter

4.0

Wow! What an intricate and inventive storyline! I so admire Faith Hunter's mind and what she's able to weave into a storyline. At times it was a bit too complicated for my little brain to comprehend until a few pages after the fact, but I loved the richness of the folklore and magic and and how Jane's involvement in it led to the solving of the mystery. I also loved seeing so much of Eli and "the kid". They are truly a very welcome addition to the series.

However...while the book was great, I found it extremely frustrating. And when you read the book, you'll see what I'm talking about. Too much of what many readers WANT to see more of basically remained stagnant. There are just certain things that should only be teased about for so many books with no forward movement before the readers start to get mighty restless, and after this book, me = mighty restless! Come on, Ms. Hunter, you introduced the relationships or relationship possibilities into the series, so PLEASE throw us a bone. Give us something, anything!

I haven't seen any information about the next book yet except that it comes out in 2014, but I'm assuming we'll be waiting a year. When that time finally comes, I hope we get to learn more about Soul and with Evan coming back into the picture (which I LOVED), I hope to see more of him and Molly. The fact that I'd like to see more of Bruiser (and even Rick and Leo) is a given!
