The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson

4.0

What a good read. I had no idea that there were blue people, and reading about them in this wonderfully told historical fiction made me pause to consider our ideas about race in a way that I haven’t in a while. I enjoyed the story, but I was especially struck by the vivid descriptions of poverty and rural Kentucky in the 1930s. This one will stick with me, if for no other reason than the questions it raises about society.
