I was given a free digital arc of this book from the author via TikTok. R. K Ashwik was kind enough to give these out with no obligations for a review. The book was released in August and here is my belated HAPPY PUBLISHING DAY, and my honest review.

I LOVED this book. It had just the right amount of warmth and mystery to keep you reading way past your bedtime.

I found all of the characters instantly lovable, especially Aspen (of course!).

Emry is an extremely well written MC, he has his struggles but it doesn’t get in the way of the story. He is down on his luck, avoiding his family and also avoiding his ex-girlfriend. All three of these main struggles are resolved very satisfyingly.

Aspen is such a joy. Their childlike wonder at the world is so refreshing and it’s wonderful to see them learn new things and to form such amazing friendships with Emry and Cal.

Cal has to be one of my favourite characters ever. She didn’t let the awkwardness around her ex get in the way of helping people AND learning about something new. I admire her thirst for knowledge and applaud teaching Aspen how to read when they asked.

The plot was very sturdy and tied up nicely. The world building was easy to follow and I was able to picture everything as the story progressed.

I think this was an amazing start to a fantastic series.
