After not being thrilled wiht Book of a Thousand Days, I was sort of skeptical to read this. My niece loaned it to me so I thought what the hay. The story was engaging, even if simple and somewhat predictable. The whole wind magic was sort of odd to me. I sort of was hoping she was just really good at talking with animals- maybe because that's the power I would want. This one tied up very neatly at the end, but I was far more satisfied with this ending since it seemed less circumstance and more the heroine actually doing something to make it happen. I'd be interested in reading the others. I would give this a 3.5.
