I always enjoy reading stories that sometimes takes me out of my comfort zone as far as the content within. A lot of people can't handle the 'disgusting' types of books like this one. And truly it is. It's about a female predator and the after affects of what it has done to the hero in the story. This story is told somewhat out of order. We start in the present and get flickers as Josh calls them which gives us glimpses of his time spent with Eve. Then he retells his story from the beginning and we get the full story of what happened. While the story is a lot to take in, it wasn't as graphic as some of the others that I have read. Which is good.
One thing that I didn't enjoy was all the talk about numbers and baseball. The main character is a whiz at numbers and even better at baseball. But he would talk batting averages, and on base percentages and all sorts of other baseball terms that for me, didn't really add to the story. After rereading the same paragraph multiple times and still finding myself distracted I decided to just skip anytime he would bring that sort of stuff up. Which was quite a bit.
Overall, I enjoyed the first half much more than the second.
