Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Honestly, I should have read this a long time ago. But somehow it didn't come up on my radar until a few years ago and I just couldn't get around to it. I really loved it.

It's very simple, but it's so well written that I just had a hard time putting it down. At the very core it's a love story of two people who are sick and tired of their people dying in a senseless war. They are willing to put aside centuries of enmity and risk themselves for peace.

The characters aren't that well developed, but I think for how short this story is, it's good enough.

I'm definitely interested in reading the rest of the series.
